These things are getting to be really cheap. These are nicer plastic tags below, but sheets of NFC tags are like 50 cents each. I am also looking at these things to attach to equipment for easy checkout. I would also love to attach them so that people could tap on a tag and get the manual or even a link to a how-to video. These things just seem so useful. As I said earlier, they also come in sheets of sticker tags that are cheaper and thinner.
I love new gadgets and technology (or at least new to me). I am getting more and more excited about NFC and phones/tablets. How cool would it be to have an NFC (Near Field Communication) tag at your door where students tap the tag and NFC sets their phone to airplane mode? What about having NFC tags at stations so students could just tap for assignments, resources, help, etc.?

Thanks for reading the blog. While the NFC tags are nice, QR codes are pretty cool as well. They make life so much easier as you don't have to give someone a big long complicated URL to type into the address bar - they just scan the QR code and it takes you there. These QR codes could also be used as a link to an audio/video message that students listen to/watch as they get to a station. One could create a type of Webquest just using QR codes.

Hi.. The NFC tags totally make me think of the QR codes. I also prefer the QR codes for environmentally friendly reasons. Can't help but thinking of how wasteful we are becoming as a planet. Or maybe it is because I am a new Dad! Leave a Reply. |
